John McCain Cheated on His Wife

by Nick on August 14, 2008

That’s not really news, we all know John McCain cheated on his first wife.  But Alan Colmes actually had some fun with that fact on Hannity & Colmes.  Thanks to Andrew Sullivan for pointing out this hilarious video:

Barack Obama Attacks McCain with “Embrace”

Barack Obama hits back at McCain with “Embrace”:

In a year when voters want anything but a Washington insider, this is exactly the kind of ad Obama should be running.

McCain Ad - “Broken”

by Nick on August 5, 2008

We’re worse off then we were four years ago.

Yes, we are.  And that’s a direct result of the Bush Administration and Republican Congress.  McCain campaign vigorously for Bush in 2004 and has been a supporter of Bush’s policies in Congress.  Yes, we are worse off than four years ago; it’s McCain’s fault.

Only McCain has taken on Big Tabacco, Drug Companies, fought corruption in both parties, he’ll reform Wall Street, battle Big Oil.

Well that list is full of more lies than I can count.  McCain supported the Medicare “reform” that forced Medicare to not negotiate for drug prices, costing taxpayers and seniors billions of extra dollars to pay for medicine.  As for corruption, John McCain sure knows about that: I’ll refer you to The Keating Five.

He’s the original maverick.  One is ready to lead.

No, he’s been a party line guy who has taken a few different positions here and there to cultivate the maverick image.  He’s no maverick though.  He rubber-stamped Bush policies for eight years and drove this country into ruin.  John McCain is not offering change.  He’s offering more of the same.

McCain’s New Negative Ad

by Nick on July 30, 2008

The McCain campaign has this new ad apparently hitting Obama for being too popular.  Because Obama is so much like Britney and Paris that we just can’t let him be president.  I’m not sure how smart it is to remind people that everyone loves Obama.

It also claims that Obama’s opposition to Offshore Drilling is causing increased oil prices and furthering our dependence on foreign oil.  While this is not true at all, it’ll probably convince some people.

The Obama Campaign’s response:

On a day when major news organizations across the country are taking Senator McCain to task for a steady stream of false, negative attacks, his campaign has launched yet another. Or, as some might say, ‘Oops! He did it again.’

Our dependence on foreign oil is one of the greatest challenges we face. In this election the American people have a real choice — between Obama’s plan to provide tax rebates to American families while creating a renewable energy economy in America that frees us from our dependence on foreign oil, and Senator McCain’s plan to continue the same failed energy policies by handing out nearly $4 billion in tax breaks to oil companies while investing almost nothing in the new energy sources that represent our future.

McCain Goes to Germany Too (Except Not Really)

by Nick on July 24, 2008

I’m really beginning to question the intelligence of the McCain campaign.  While Obama was in Berlin for his speech to 200,000 people, John McCain went to a German restaurant in Columbus, OH.  It’s such a ridiculous move, I can’t even fathom how the McCain campaign thought that this would be a good response to Obama’s stop in Berlin.

Obama’s Berlin Speech

by Nick on July 24, 2008

The following is Barack Obama’s Speech in Berlin, Germany today (July 24th, 2008).  Full text of the speech below the video.

A World That Stands as One

Thank you to the citizens of Berlin and to the people of Germany. Let me thank Chancellor Merkel and Foreign Minister Steinmeier for welcoming me earlier today. Thank you Mayor Wowereit, the Berlin Senate, the police, and most of all thank you for this welcome.

I come to Berlin as so many of my countrymen have come before. Tonight, I speak to you not as a candidate for President, but as a citizen - a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen of the world.

I know that I don’t look like the Americans who’ve previously spoken in this great city. The journey that led me here is improbable. My mother was born in the heartland of America, but my father grew up herding goats in Kenya. His father - my grandfather - was a cook, a domestic servant to the British.

At the height of the Cold War, my father decided, like so many others in the forgotten corners of the world, that his yearning - his dream - required the freedom and opportunity promised by the West. And so he wrote letter after letter to universities all across America until somebody, somewhere answered his prayer for a better life.

That is why I’m here. And you are here because you too know that yearning. This city, of all cities, knows the dream of freedom. And you know that the only reason we stand here tonight is because men and women from both of our nations came together to work, and struggle, and sacrifice for that better life.
